The Chinese-British Buddhist Education Foundation was established in 2018, aiming to promote the development of global Buddhist studies and the dissemination of traditional Chinese culture. Through supporting academic research, educational programs and cultural exchanges and interactions, it facilitates the spread and popularisation of Buddhist knowledge and enhances intercultural understanding and cooperation.

We work with the GS Charity Foundation to support the Glorisun Global Network for the Buddhist Studies.

Launched in January 2017, the Glorisun Global Network for Buddhist Studies aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among scholars studying Buddhism and East Asian Religions in response to the growing significance of East Asia and the assertion of its cultural identities. Recent scholarship has enriched our understanding of these fields through discoveries of texts and artifacts, as well as increased opportunities for ethnographic research. However, traditional disciplinary divisions in academia often isolate scholars and hinder innovative research. Despite advancements in communication and transportation, cultural and geographic barriers continue to separate academic communities, particularly between East Asia and Europe/North America. To tackle these challenges, leading scholars from various universities in Europe, North America, and East Asia proposed an informal networking program, supported by institutional and financial backing, to enhance academic engagement among scholars in this field.

Together with the leadership of Dr. Charles Yeung of GS Charity Foundation, we collaboratively provide financial support to the following participating members of the Glorisun Global Network for Buddhist Studies:

  • Peking University, China
  • University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada
  • University of Hamburg, Germany
  • Princeton University, USA
  • University of Oxford, UK
  • University of Cambridge, UK
